About Me

Hi, I'm Rachel, the therapist behind Sun & Sand Counselling Services.

If you’ve landed here, you might be looking for support, a place to sort through what’s been weighing on you, or simply someone who will listen without judgment. However you’ve arrived, I’m glad you’re here.

At the heart of my practice is connection. I aim to offer a space where you can show up just as you are - without pressure to have things figured out or to be anything other than yourself. I follow your lead in our work together, moving at a pace that feels right for you, with curiosity, compassion, and respect for what feels most important to you.

For the past eight years, I’ve worked with and in First Nations communities in Northwestern Ontario. This work continues to shape how I practice as a therapist. It has deepened my approach to listening, relationships, and meeting each person with humility and genuine care. It also inspired me to build and grow my private practice, with a focus on increasing access to counselling services across the region through virtual therapy.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. In addition to my formal education and clinical training, my work is informed by lived experience and a deep appreciation for the complexities of being human. I understand how valuable it can be to have a trusted space to process life’s challenges, gain perspective, and move toward healing and well-being.

Outside of work, I’m usually spending time with my family, enjoying a good coffee, or finding reasons to be outdoors. I love spending time with my son and like to stay busy with sports, gardening, and the occasional project around the house. These simple parts of life are important to me and help keep me grounded.

Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or simply looking for a space to feel heard and supported, I would be honoured to work with you. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where you can show up as yourself and feel accepted, respected, and understood. I proudly affirm diverse identities, relationships, and ways of being. Whoever you are and wherever you’re starting from, you are welcome here.
