About Me

Hi! I’m Rachel, the therapist behind Sun & Sand Counselling Services. I’m passionate about listening, connecting, and helping people find steadiness and clarity when life feels heavy. My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and creating a space where you feel truly seen and supported.

For the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of working with First Nations communities - an experience that continues to be deeply meaningful and central to my practice. Recognizing the limited access to mental health services in our region, I’ve grown my practice to welcome anyone seeking support - bringing the same care, connection, and respect to all.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Alongside my professional training, my work is rooted in lived experience - the kind that comes from loving, growing, and navigating life’s challenges, and a deep understanding of how meaningful it is to have a safe place to land when life feels overwhelming.

At home, my son and our labrador remind me to slow down and savour everyday moments. We spend time exploring the outdoors of Northwestern Ontario, inventing backyard games, and playing endless hours of hockey and mini-sticks. These simple, grounding moments of connection and play continually shape how I show up in my practice, inspiring the warmth and steadiness I bring to clients.

In my work, I strive to offer that same presence and support. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and not alone - whether you’re facing something new or navigating challenges that have been with you for years.
